Fire Cooking· BUYING GUIDE
Which BSTRD. kamado?
Three ovens, the same ceramics. What actually changes between the Compact, the CORE and the PRO.
BSTRD. make three ovens. They share the same thick ceramic body, cast-iron adjustable air cap, temperature gauge, spring-loaded hinge and split firebox. What changes between them is the size, the deflector system, and how much comes in the box.

BSTRD. Compact — from £799
A full kamado in a size you can lift into the car, with built-in cast-iron carry handles and a stand with a carry cradle. Half-moon deflectors for indirect cooking. It's the one for a small courtyard, the boat, the campsite, or as a second oven alongside something bigger.
Add the High Level Stand and it becomes a proper garden setup at 85 cm working height.
BSTRD. CORE Large — from £1,599
The essentials, done properly. The same premium ceramics and 49 cm split stainless grate as the PRO — room for three whole chickens — plus half-moon heat deflectors for indirect cooking, a reinforced stand with lockable wheels and a modular side table.
If you want to grill, roast, smoke and bake without paying for features you won't use, this is it. Graphite or gloss graphite.
BSTRD. PRO Large — from £2,099
Everything. The Dynamic Twist Deflector switches between direct and indirect cooking in seconds without lifting the grate out; the bottom vent has an airtight seal for finer control; there's a built-in rain cap, Grab & Go handles, lockable casters, and modular side tables with magnetic inserts — the walnut board fits here.
Same 49 cm grate, set up so it takes up to five whole chickens. Three colours: graphite, desert sand and alpine green.

What does Solo mean?
A Solo is the oven on its own: no stand, no side tables. Same ceramics, same grate, same controls. Choose Solo if you're building the kamado into an outdoor kitchen or setting it on a low table you already have. CORE Large Solo is £1,299; PRO Large Solo is £1,599.
Which would we choose
For most gardens, the CORE Large. For anyone who cooks over fire seriously — or who wants to switch from searing to indirect mid-cook without lifting a hot grate out — the PRO earns its price. The Compact is the answer if portability matters or space is genuinely short.
What you'll need with it
Three things make the difference in the first month:
- A rain cover if it lives outside.
- The Electric Starter — charcoal lit in minutes, no firelighters and no chemical taint.
- One cast-iron surface: the 360 Grill for searing, or a 180 Grill and 180 Griddle together so you can run two zones.
Every accessory on our site says which oven it fits, so nothing arrives the wrong size.
